1. Is methadone an effective medication for maintenance treatment for opiate recovery?

Methadone is an effective maintenance medication for treating opiate addiction. Research has shown that when patients take Methadone for minimum of 18 months, long term recovery is greater when compared to patients who complete a detox with Methadone short term.

2. What are the benefits of methadone maintenance treatment?

Patients who are on Methadone maintenance, and also attend counseling, have shown reduced opiate use. This includes IV heroin use, which reduces the risk of sexually transmitted disease.

3. Is there withdrawal associated with Methadone or Buprenorphine?

A sudden discontinuation of these medications can cause withdrawal symptoms. When coming off the medication, it is best to do so slowly, in small increments under a doctors to care to minimize any withdrawal symptoms.

4. How much methadone is safe to use?

Not every person is going to benefit from the same dose. Our doctor considers several factors in determining a safe and therapeutic dose for each patient. Keep in mind, mixing Methadone with alcohol or other medications such as Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, etc. is unsafe and without monitoring by a doctor, could lead to respiratory depression or even death. Always consult a doctor before taking medication or drinking alcohol while on medication.

5. Will Methadone affect cognition or employment?

No. Cognition is intact. Perception is intact. Motor functions are intact. Attention is intact. Reaction times are intact. However, methadone can cause drowsiness if dose is to high.Inform your counselor if you are experiencing sedation or drowsiness immediately. Use caution when operating machinery.

6. What should I expect in your recovery program?

Yes. Prices start at $13/day, and vary depending on dose.

9. How much does it cost to be in your program?

Methadone starts at $13 per day. This includes the cost of medication for that day and counseling. Methadone patients receive a discount if paying weekly ($80 per week) or monthly ($310 per month).

Buprenorphine fees vary between $13 per day to $24 per day, depending on the dosage. Buprenorphine patients receive a discount if paying weekly of $85 to $150, depending on the dosage.
